Online dating is a whole lot of fun but only if you’re using the right websites. To help you sort the good from the bad, we spend a lot of time every year reviewing all the popular sites and a lot of the smaller ones. Determining which site you should use can be really tough without a little help from the experts!
Falling for the wrong website and handing over your credit card info can turn into a total disaster. The worst part is, some of them seem entirely legit until it’s too late. Today we’re taking a look at Affair Alert because it’s a site we get asked about often. Rather than take a quick glance and pass judgment, we wanted to dig deep and test out both the free and paid versions of the site.
Got a bad feeling about this app? So many new hookup apps and sites are popping up that it’s hard to tell which ones are any good. If you want a surefire hookup app that’s full of active users that are looking for a good time, here are your top options:

Over the course of our time using Affair Alert we sent over 50 messages to various women and responded to every message that we received. You just can’t get a sense for the quality of a site without using it like this.
We wanted to be fair in our review so we gave a real effort when trying to meet women on this site. This wasn’t just a quick look.
The results were interesting to say the least.

As you can see from the graphic, this site turned out to be a straight-up waste of time. The dangerous part is they do actually put some effort into pretending to have real users.
The “chat” messages that constantly pop up are fooling nobody. The “messages” on the other hand (closer to internal emails between members) aren’t quite so obvious.
It wasn’t until I attempted to have a real conversation and ask questions that things become more obvious. It may be a language barrier with the scammers on the other end but the conversation always felt off.
No matter how I approached it, any attempt to escalate was met with the same response too. Here are just a couple of examples of what I’m talking about. Read each one from bottom to top.
I’m not exaggerating when I say every single attempt was met with a response along these lines. Now sure, some women just want to take things slow with online dating and you’ll find that everywhere.
100% strike rate though? Even when you’re talking to women with naked photos in their profile and graphic descriptions of the sex they “need”? Come on.
In case it isn’t clear already, my recommendation is to stay away from this site. Absolutely do not give them your credit card details. If you want to actually use a site that will give you a fair shot of meeting someone for some fun in the bedroom check out Adult FriendFinder (which you can try for free with the link below).
To offer a fair and balanced review, I like to find the positives in a site as well. In this case though, there just aren’t any.
If I had to name one it’d be that some elements of the site drop some red flags early. The problem is, if you ignore these early warning signs, the messages might be enough to convince you it’s legit.
I could really get carried away with the negatives of this site but let’s keep it to three main points.
The purpose of this website is to get your credit card details. It doesn’t actually facilitate any dating, it just pretends to so you sign up for a membership.
To be clear, I’m not suggesting they sell your credit card details or anything. They might but I don’t know that for sure.
Most scammers are pretty obvious about what they’re doing. They only want to spend their time on people naive enough to fall for an obvious scam.
This site, on the other hand, actually puts some effort into it. They’re going out of their way to deceive you, making you think you can actually be having sex tonight. All you have to do is hand over your card info and you’re getting lucky with any number of women.
If you are still reading you need to stop and check out Adult FriendFinder or one of the other hookup sites that actually work. These are the sites that we have actually seen good results with and that are not a complete waste of time.
You only have so much time and energy to spend and spending one more second on Affair Alert is another second wasted.
The final negative here is they constantly push you to sign up but in a sneaky way. From the first second you log into a free account, you’re hit with messages from “women”. They pop up from the bottom of the screen, baiting you into the next step of their process.
Take this screenshot for example. This was minutes after I created a free profile. I hadn’t added a profile pic or bio text yet.
This same thing kept happening throughout the process. Once I had a profile pic they invited me to text them (through the site — another paid service). After signing up for a paid membership, they’d pester me to chat with them (requires a higher level of paid membership).
Some of them even try to make you feel bad for not responding. Comments like “don’t you find me attractive?” and “why won’t anyone talk to me?”
Very manipulative.
This website claims to be all about fast, simple and discreet hookups. As you might expect, the profiles they use are pretty explicit. The photos are sexual, the bio text is sexual and in many cases English doesn’t appear to be their first language. In all cases, these aren’t real women, they’re just pretending to be.
Far be it from me to judge though, right? Maybe sex really is “one of her medicine when she is tired.” She is a “smoking hot and wild chick”, after all.
Ignoring my other objections to this site, the overall design isn’t terrible. It has a very 2005 feel to it but you can find what you’re looking for.
Navigation is simple enough and using each of the features of the site is fairly intuitive. The constant use of naked and semi-naked women everywhere is a little cringe but all in all, it’s functional.
Maybe not the most aesthetically pleasing, design and functionality isn’t all that far behind legitimate dating sites.
There are two methods of communication between members on this site. Chat is a live text conversation that pops up from the bottom of the screen (think Facebook Messenger). You need a top-tier membership to use this feature.
This is frustrating because as a paid member because you’re constantly bombarded with chat messages. You can’t reply to any of them yet the messages just keep coming!
Messages, on the other hand, are more like internal mail between users. Similar to an early-2000s webmail interface, you can see how many unread messages you have when you log in.
It works but the very dated message interface makes it cumbersome to use.
As mentioned, the purpose of these conversations is to convince you there are real users on the site. More specifically, to convince you there are attractive women on this site that want to have sex with you.
All of these conversations turned out to be fake. The chat messages are designed to bait you into the next step of their process while the messages keep you hooked. Ultimately they want you to fall for this for several months so they can keep charging you.
The only thing you can do on this site with a free membership is look around. You can search for women in your area and look at their profiles but that’s where it ends.
No chatting, no messages, you sending “gifts”. Nothing. While frustrating, it’s also fairly normal to be honest. Even legitimate sites have to make money somehow, right?
There are some blatant ads across the site and all of them are adult-related and very explicit. Beyond that, they also have adult movies and “Cams” sections. Technically these aren’t really ads but they are addons to the site.
The movies require you to upgrade your membership and the cams want you to tip the models. ‘Cams’ is a brand new feature and appears to be as fake as everything else on the site. A quick Google of the names of their camgirls shows that they’re actually performers on another prominent camming site.
Both of these features are advertised all over the site.
Pricing for this site is actually quite confusing. For this review I signed up for the “Monthly VIP Membership as shown in the breakdown below.
It might seem like the top package since it’s “VIP” and the most expensive but that isn’t the case. While it doesn’t give you any additional info here to make a decision, the Gold membership is actually the top.
That’s the one that gives you access to all features across the site including chat and the “free” porn. That might seem counterintuitive since the price is roughly a third of the VIP but think about what they’re doing here.
They know there aren’t that many suckers likely to fall for this charade for 2 or 3 months in a row. If they get $69.90 from you today for 6 months, that’s still more than a single month at $29.95.
You can use the site for free but as I mentioned above, all you can do is look. You have to pay before you can start interacting with anyone.
With so many mentions of this website online, it’s no surprise people have a lot of questions. Let’s take a look at the three most asked questions about Affair Alert. Have more questions about this website? Let us know and we’ll happily look into it for you — we’re all about research and education!
AffairAlert.com is a terrible website that pretends to offer online dating and hookups. In truth, the site is “for entertainment purposes only”, which means the site uses employees or bots to pose as users.
AffairAlert expertly hides the name of the company that owns and/or operates it. That’s not a good sign.
For concerns about your Affair Alert account, you can email them at [email protected] or call them at 1-800-564-9432.
While AffairAlert.com is a real site, its users are likely not. They use “Fantasy Cuties”, which are either bots or employees posing as users.
Absolutely not. Some sections of AffairAlert are reasonably convincing and conversations feel real on occasion. When it comes to setting up a date though, the response is always the same. They want to “get to know you” more first (ie they want you to spend longer on the site chasing them).
Affair Alert might not be a scam, but they try to conceal the fact that the site is populated by bots or employees acting as users.
No, we don’t think AffairAlert.com is a safe site to use.
