On regular days it's The Lizard Lounge, but on Thursday and Sunday nights it transforms to become The Church. This bar is a typical “goth” club, but it’s rated the number one Garland hookup bar for a reason. There are five separate lounges, three DJs, a rooftop patio and an eclectic mix of 80s, house, electro, ambient, industrial and goth music.
We chose The Church because of the glorious rooftop balcony where one can escape the cacophony of the dance floor and for the special-event nights. Your chances of a hookup quadruple on theme nights (Fetish ball? Skin party? Yes, please). We also love the live performances! According to their website, Nine Inch Nails, Korn, Depeche Mode, Dita Von Teese and Marilyn Manson have performed on The Church stage.
Know there’s a mix of folks here, but it’s the kindest crowd around Dallas County. It’s in the Swiss Avenue historic district--just a quick drive from Downtown Garland. Rumors swirl about paranormal activity and hauntings. But you’re not going to hook up with a ghost, are you?
